How to Choose the Right Scrap Baling Machine
A scrap baling machine compresses loose metal scrap into dense, uniform bales that take less space, are safer to handle and are easier to sell to steel mills and foundries. Choosing the right model comes down to a few practical questions.
1. What scrap will you bale?
Light scrap such as aluminium, copper offcuts, sheet-metal trimmings and turnings bales well in a double action machine. Bulky or mixed ferrous scrap, or scrap that will be exported, usually needs the extra compression of a triple action baler.
2. How much scrap do you handle every day?
- Workshops and small units — a compact hand-lever model such as the Scrap Baling Machine Baby (15–25 kg bales) or Eco (20–30 kg bales).
- Continuous industrial use — the Heavy Duty or Automatic double action models (25–40 kg bales).
- Recyclers and exporters — triple action balers from 100 to 250 Ton (30–100 kg bales).
3. What bale weight does your buyer want?
Ask your scrap buyer or mill which bale size and weight they prefer — matching it avoids re-handling and usually fetches a better rate.
4. Hand lever or PLC?
Hand-lever machines cost less and are simple to maintain. PLC-controlled machines run the compression and ejection cycle automatically, so one operator can supervise the machine — worth it when the baler runs all shift.
5. Power and space
